How to get your etsy mini on wordpress

February 1, 2009

kind of….

I love wordpress but it’s lack of code can be a tad frustrating.  For instance it can’t / won’t support the etsy mini. Yeah I could insert any image but I like the look of the mini and it saves me the hassle of getting together images, cropping, pasting and then repeating all that again when I fancy a change.

So here’s how to do it – kind of. This is more a way to insert a hyper linked image but it works and it’ll be pretty easy to change it every now and again.

Get a screenshot of your etsy mini and upload it to a photo hosting site. Add the TEXT widget to your blog and insert the following code, replacing the text in caps with the relevant info. It might also be an idea to add some words after the alt tag. These tags are picked up by search engines so you might as well seize the chance to improve your rankings while you’re at it 🙂

<a href=”SHOP LINK HERE” title=”SHOP NAME – THIS WILL APPEAR WHEN YOU HOVER OVER IMAGE”><img src=”IMAGE LINK HERE” width=”INSERT WIDTH IMAGE” height=”INSERT HEIGHT IMAGE” alt=”etsymini” /></a>

If you have any questions jut leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.

  1. Wow, thanks. I have spent hours trying to figure out how to get my etsy mini up. and then again, I’m trying to figure this whole blog site out. I followed everything, but didn’t get the picture up.
It may be Inset width image and height image. I inserted the pixel #. Is that correct?
The title is there, but not the photo. Big question mark.
Any help will be appreciated. Alice

  2. Yes, thank you Fugsly! You’re my saviour.
I’d been trying to get that to work for awhile when I found your post.

I’m just starting to set things up both at Etsy and here at WordPress. It is nice to know that there are helpful people around. Hope I can return the favour some time.

And I completely love your ponies. I played a lot with My Little Pony when I was a kid and – though I didn’t realise until I saw it here – I’ve always wanted an undead one.

  3. Alice, when I copy-pasted Fuglsy’s code the text widget added some “”‘s. (I’m guessing it makes a difference between ” and ”.) If you check it for that it might work better?

  4. thank you for posting this! so helpful!

  5. Thanks so much for this! Worked perfectly, once I figured out the “”thingy 🙂 The result looks great, you can hardly tell the difference!
